Douglas Clark: Horsemen, Benjamin Press, Bath
`Horsemen' is structured in four sections. Initially a selection from
poems chronicling the end of a relationship. Secondly a sequence
documenting reaction and the aftermath. Thirdly a retreat into the
world of the `Cat Poems', written for adults with children in mind.
Finally a long narrative poem based on a history of the Mongols.
Many of the themes are continued from `Troubador'. At heart `Horsemen'
is a book of the cleansing of the spirit. The first three sections were
written in Bath; the final section in County Durham.
