Mary Palmer's poems
Words and healing, myths and healing: working as a nutritionist convinced
the poet healing involves mind, body and spirit. This, and her own journey
through bulimia, inspired Iona, written for her MA. Mordec, the shadow-self,
tells of her conflict with Aelia, the poet's persona. A journey to Iona,
to the Celtic culture and spirituality alive there, changes both characters
and heals their relationship.
Some of these poems first appeared in Never Bury Poetry, Acumen,
Working Titles, Polygon Poets: An Anthology, Coracle,
Rive Gauche, Other Poetry, Tears in the Fence,
Mix: a BSUC MA anthology.
